CLAIR, New York, Welcomes JETAA Jamaica and JETAA Trinidad & Tobago into its fold!

JETAA Jamaica monthly meeting

The New York office of Japan's Council of Local Authorities for International Relations (CLAIR) has welcomed the JET Alumni Association chapters in Jamaica and Trinidad & Tobago into the alumni community under its jurisdiction, the other chapters being in the US and Canada. As such, JETAA Jamaica and JETAA Trinidad & Tobago will be supported by CLAIR's New York office, allowing them to be more closely connected with the North American chapters.

JETAA Jamaica and JETAA Trinidad & Tobago formerly liaised directly with CLAIR, Tokyo to get funding and other assistance for the projects they undertake with the objective of creating awareness in their countries of the Japanese culture and to deepen their countries' relationship with Japan.

JETAA Jamaica and JETAA Trinidad & Tobago will retain their autonomy as individual chapters and will continue to represent their countries in matters concerning the JET Programme, as well as in matters related to JETAA International.

On Friday, November 12, 2021, Matthew Gillam, Senior Researcher at Japan Local Government Center, New York, joined JETAA Jamaica at its monthly meeting to explain the nature of the relationship that CLAIR New York hopes to foster with JETAA Jamaica.

JETAA Jamaica looks forward to working with the alumni associations represented by the CLAIR New York office, and to strengthen its relationship with the alumni associations which it serves.
